From these pictures, you can see that Grant is quite the avid reader. We read anywhere from 5-10 books before naptime and bedtime everyday. And Grant is quite particular about what books he wants read to him. He will say "no" and push a book away if it's not one that he likes. Thank goodness we have lots of books at home and an AWESOME library very close.
Grant recently participated in our local library's "Walkers" class. It was for kids 13 months to 24 months. Grant just made the cut off for his age, but I picked this one because the description said something about the kids being able to get up and wander around the room, which I thought would be perfect for Grant because the child just doesn't sit still.
On the first day of class it became apparent that Grant was the youngest little guy in the class and the most adventuresome, as a nice way to put it. Most of the kids were sitting on their parent's laps but Grant was up and exploring. He decided to try out a few other mom's laps and even tried to take one of the mom's glasses right off her face. He is definitely not shy.
The next week, Daddy was able to come and of course Grant acted like a little angel. He especially loves the music part and went and stood up in the front of the classroom next to the teacher and showed off his dance moves. She was loving it--teacher's pet?
The next couple of classes, Grant seemed to be getting the hang of things and even once returned the book to the teacher at the end of the reading session like all the big kids in class do. Mommy was very proud. Then it was time to sing, "If your happy and you know it." They changed up the words a bit and at one point the lyrics went: "If your happy and you know it, touch your nose." Grant decided this would be a good time to go around the room touching everyone's noses, but then he quickly decided eyes were more fun, and proceeded to poke out many of the other kids' and parents' eyes while saying "eye." I literally had to go and grab him. The teacher was really nice about it and said, "Maybe he will be a doctor someday." It was nice that she was so laid back about it.
It was a fun experience and we are looking forward to the next session of Library classes!
